About Slow Leak Subs
A small, independent Australian project that does one thing: finds the recurring charges on your bank statement so you can decide which ones to keep.
Why it exists
Subscriptions are designed to be easy to start and easy to forget. They show up on a statement under names that look nothing like the service you signed up for, spread across the month so no single one is alarming. Most people discover the total only when they add it up by hand, which almost nobody does.
The tools that solve this well overseas are built on American bank data and don't work with Australian or New Zealand accounts. The local options are either manual spreadsheets or full budgeting apps where subscriptions are a minor feature. Slow Leak Subs is the narrow version: one job, done for local banks and local services.
How it works
You download a statement from your own bank, the same way you always have, and open it in the statement audit. It is read in your browser, on your device. The tool groups transactions that repeat, works out how often each one bills, matches the descriptor against a dictionary of Australian and New Zealand merchants, and adds up the totals.
Your statement is never uploaded. There is no bank login, no account, and nothing to cancel later.
The rules it's built on
No bank login
We never ask for banking credentials and never use a screen-scraping aggregator. You supply a statement file you already have access to.
Read on your device
Parsing happens in your browser. Transactions are not sent to a server, because there is nothing useful a server could do with them.
Nothing kept
No transaction database, no spending profile. The only records kept are your email address and, if you pay, the fact that you did. See the privacy policy.
No referral money
We don't take commissions from any service listed, don't run affiliate links, and don't offer bill negotiation. The only money we make is the one-off unlock fee.
Who builds it
Slow Leak Subs is built and operated by Angus Muma, a solo developer in Sydney, trading under ABN 46 651 657 225.
It is an independent project. It is not a bank, is not affiliated with any bank, and is not a licensed financial adviser. It doesn't give financial advice: it describes charges that are already on your own statement, and every decision about what to do with them is yours.
Honest limits
Detection is automatic and pattern based, so it can be wrong. A charge can be missed, or a run of one-off purchases can look like a subscription. Merchant names come from a dictionary that will never cover every local business. CSV exports from most Australian and New Zealand banks work; PDF support currently covers NAB. The free preview exists so you can judge all of this before paying anything.
