Terms of service

These terms are an agreement between you and Angus Muma (ABN 46 651 657 225) ("we", "us"), the operator of slowleaksubs.com. By using the site or the statement audit you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't use the service.

What the service is

Slow Leak Subs reads a bank or credit card statement that you provide and identifies charges on it that look recurring, giving each a name where it can be matched to a known merchant, along with how often it appears to bill and what it adds up to per month and per year. That is the whole service. It is not a budgeting app, it does not track your spending over time, and it never connects to your bank account.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter a contract. You may only use the service with a statement you are entitled to access: your own, or one you have the account holder's permission to use.

Accuracy and limits

Charge detection and merchant naming are automated and based on patterns in the transaction descriptions your bank prints. They can be wrong. A charge can be missed, misidentified, or a set of one-off purchases can be mistaken for a recurring charge. Merchant names come from a dictionary we maintain and will not cover everything, particularly smaller or local businesses.

Treat the output as a prompt to check your own records, not as a statement of fact. Check anything important against your actual statement before acting on it, and confirm directly with the merchant before cancelling anything.

Not every bank or statement format is supported, and support for a given bank can change. We don't guarantee that the service will work with your particular statement. The free preview is there so you can check before paying.

Payment

A free preview shows how many recurring charges were found and the monthly and yearly totals. Unlocking the full list costs a one-off $19 AUD. Payment is processed by Stripe; we never receive your card details. This is a single purchase, not a subscription, and nothing recurring is set up. The unlock is tied to the email address used at checkout and can be restored on another device using that address.

Prices are in Australian dollars. Where GST applies it is included in the price shown. We may change the price at any time, but the price shown at checkout is the price you pay for that purchase.

Refunds

Our refund policy is set out on the refunds page and forms part of these terms. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Acceptable use

Don't use the service to process a statement you aren't entitled to, attempt to interfere with the site, the payment flow or the unlock mechanism, attempt to gain access to accounts or data that aren't yours, or scrape or resell the service or the merchant data behind it.

No account, no stored statement

There is no login. Your statement and its transactions are processed on your device and never sent to us. See the privacy policy for what we do hold.

Availability

The service is provided as-is and as-available. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of it. We don't promise the site will be uninterrupted or error free.

Intellectual property

The site, its content, the merchant dictionary and the software behind the tool remain our property. You may use the output for your own personal purposes. You may not copy or redistribute the service itself.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for decisions you make based on the output of the service, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including under the Australian Consumer Law, where our liability may instead be limited to resupplying the service or paying the cost of resupply.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The version published here at the time of your purchase applies to that purchase. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that state. If you are a consumer in New Zealand, nothing in this clause deprives you of the protection of New Zealand consumer law.
